5/1/2024 0 Comments Bhuvaneswari amman![]() Indeed, by worshipping the Goddess one can bring immeasurable benefit to one’s loved ones, as well as to oneself, even to the extent of rescuing them from various hells and carrying them thence to the paradise of Manidvipa. The Goddess can fulfill all our needs, and is ever ready to remedy even our greatest afflictions. Worship of the Great Goddess bestows peace and joy upon the worshipper, and brings him or her bounteous merit. The Manidweepam is guarded by eight Gods-such as Indira, Agni, Varuna, Vayu, Kubera etc. means the universe (for control of desire) and consists of several forts, made of several materials – consisting of common metals on the outside, silver, gold, sapphire, Topaz, pearl, corals and emerald in the interior. She is variously described as the brightness of thousand suns, beauty of peacock and parrot, nectar in a flower, ruby among gems and Ganga among rivers. In Lalitha trisathi, Hreem is used in 29 places for glorifying Goddess Bhuvaneswari. Hreemkara finds its place in various Upanishads – such as Bhavanopanishad, Sowbhagya Lakshmi Upanishad, Sri Sooktham and other prayers. The mantra ‘Hreem’ is known as Sakthi Pranavam. In human beings, she exists as Kundalini Sakthi and Sabthabrahmam. Her powers extend throughout the universe. Sri Bhuvaneswari represents knowledge and intelligence. She resides at Manidweepam, which was created out of Her own thought. She is worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu and Siva. Scriptures describe Her as brighter than thousand Suns, and wearing a crescent moon on Her crown. She is always well dressed, bedecked with Jewelry and gems of various kinds. Her smiling face is meant to cheer-up devotees for happiness. She carries weapons such as Paasam Angusam (for control of anger). She has 4 hands two of which bless the devotees. By praying Her, birth less state and Moksha are obtained.īhuvaneswari always appears with a smiling face. She is the giver of wealth, health and happiness. The temple trust maintains various educational institutions, including a Veda Patasala.Goddess Bhuvaneswari is a symbol of beauty and grace. There are separate shrines also for the eighteen siddhars, Siva as Kasi Viswanthar, Murugan, Ayyappa and Dakshinamurti. In front of the large Vinayakar is Abhishtha Varada Maha Ganapati, and in front of the large Anjaneyar is Murugan. ![]() The Pancha Mukha Anjaneyar is depicted with five different faces – Hanuman (monkey), elephant, Narasimhar, Garuda and Varaha (boar). In the prakaram are other deities, but most notable of them all are three large vigrahams – Pancha Mukha Sankata Hara Herambha Maha Ganapati, Maha Durga depicted with 18 hands, and Pancha Mukha Anjaneyar. A Srichakra Maha Meru is installed in front of the shrine. ![]() The grand façade outside leads to a rather simple one-shrine garbhagriham inside, with a beautiful vigraham of Bhuvaneswari Amman, depicted with four arms – the front two hands in abhaya hastam and varada hastam, and the rear hands holding the pasam and ankusam. Each of these has different aspects, one of which is Bhuvaneswari, meaning the ruler of the worlds. ![]() Sakti – the primordial energy – is known by various names, including Parasakti, Raja Rajeswari, etc. However, the deity here is regarded as being extremely powerful, which explains the ceaseless throng of visitors to this temple. This is one of the most popular temples in the town of Pudukkottai, despite its recent history – the temple was established only as recently as in 1962.
